Part of the Mascaro Advantage's family atmosphere is the importance of giving back to the community. Not only is it the right thing to do, but it is also one of our long-term strategic goals. We focus on partnering with charitable organizations based on our employees’ personal connection and the local community in which we live.
ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that has no cure. Each year, Mascaro supports the fight against ALS by participating in the CEO Soak. On August 11th, John Mascaro, Jr. was one of 40 participants in the 2022 ALS CEO Soak at PPG Place. John and Mascaro Construction fundraised for the event and raised over $3,330 surpassing our goal of $2,500!
Mascaro would like to thank everyone who donated and helped to give back to an important cause. The money raised through donations help those affected with this disease critical care, services, and support that they need.

In support of Breast Cancer awareness month, Mascaro held its annual Pink Day and raised over $3,400 for the American Cancer Society.
Two Mascaro teams participated in the Master Builders' Association's inaugural Bike Quiz-A-Thon. The teams answered trivia questions to earn parts to build a children’s bike for The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh.
Mascaro volunteers participated in the Pittsburgh UNcathlon where the team was paired with Special Olympic athletes to take part in a fun (and challenging) day where they were tested on speed, strength, and endurance.
The Mascaro team took over the phones on the last morning of DVE Rocks Children’s Radiothon! They answered the phones and accepted donations to help raise funds for children to receive the care they need.
The team spent a hot Friday afternoon sprucing up the outdoor
areas of the Humane Animal Rescue on the North Side. The project was done to help the Humane Animal Rescue to beautify their area before their annual fundraising gala.
As a part of providing a healthy environment for others, a few Mascaro employees volunteered with PSL to clean up a Fowler Field on the north side. For a few hours, the team cleaned up trash and litter around the field so that the youth football teams and their spectators can have a clean, safe area to be in!
On Saturday, May 20th a group of Mascaro employees and their families joined together to walk in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's, "Pittsburgh Great Strides" walk. The group not only walked, but also raised funds which were donated to the CF foundation in support of their mission to find a cure.
A few volunteers from Mascaro are doing their part to help save the earth one piece of trash at a time! On Earth Day, they participated in the Masters Builders’ Association Clean Up Day picking up trash to help beautify the area.
With many in our area in need this time of the year, Mascaro participated in five community initiatives for our “Season of Giving”. Mascaro collected and donated 288 lbs. of food and $1,328 to the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, 130 toys for Toys For Tots, 25 presents for the Salvation Army Angel Tree, over 50 winter coats for New Hope Church, and 4 large boxes packed with sweatshirts for Sweats for Vets! Hats off to our employees for their dedication to give back to the community.
